Real quick Accel injector questions

I have a set of Accel yellow top 24lb injectors I got off Ebay awhile back. They have a green plastic tip on the business end. One of my questions is are the tips supposed to come off before installation or do they stay on? My other question is are all Accel injectors able to be used for our cars? I've heard of some injectors being a different resistance. The auction was to fit TPI cars. The only numbers on the injector is the 24 on the top. Is it a pintle style or something else. A buddy of mine just got a newer set that has three spray holes in the end and no plastic tip? What is that.

Pretty sure that tip stays on. Did you buddy get the same injector as you the 24Ibs ones? Wonder if they changed there supplier since they kind of have a bad rap.

A picture would be helpful. Injectors sometimes come with a plastic bucket shoved over the business end just to keep out dirt and crud during shipping. If that's all it is then it definitely needs to come off before installation.

I would not use them because Accel injectors= JUNK....I sent mine back 2x's befour I just got my money back and got the FiveOmotorsport Pink injectors. If you use them and start having fuel problems look at the injectors.

Good luck

Thank you everone who replied. The picture Tony89GTA put up is exactly what I have. Except for the colors. And yes my buddies injectors are 24lb ones as well. His are polished aluminum looking with no plastic tip and a three hole spray pattern.
Unfortunately I cannot afford any more parts right now so I will install these and if I have problems I will keep them in mind.

JoeJoe, what type of problems were you having and what did accel say was causing them?

Thanx

I was having problems with it geting to much fuel the first time (fuel pres. was/is 45.2 with both sets, and still that way) and the seconed time one of the injectors quit working and the set OHM'ed out all over the place.

I have a 89 F/B formula that needs an injector! What is a good reliable source for quality injectors for the money? This is my first TPI car!

Well... he got the better ones. The newer style are very good. The older black and yellow ones did have a higher failure rate. That is why suppliers were changed. Don't get me wrong there are still a lot of older style injectors out there that work fine. You might have lucked out and got a decent set... it is hard to say. I have a older set of 21 lbers that have worked fine for a long time now.
