maro man, If you specify exactly what you need a photo of I'll get it for you off my car. It's a bone stock '88 350 with only 23k on it, never molested. So it's just the way it came from the factory.

Basically any wiring that is visable in the engine compartment would be great. Back firewall, by the battery, and both fenders. I just want to see whats out of place or has been added over the years. Stuff just seems like its laying loosely in there. Thanks, Nick.

Thanks, I really appreciate it. I seem to have a couple different messes in my engine compartment, compared to your pics. Maybe it would be best if I posted pics of what I am questioning, so you guys can help me better. Thats what I am going to do..... ......hopefully in the next couple days.
What really bothers me about the car, besides cosmetics....is that someone spray bombed the engine compartment black. When they did they went right over everything including wires and so on. Not a big deal looks wise from a distance, but just a cheap way of doing things. There, I got my complaining out about my car today. Will post up some pics in the days to come, for you guys to look at........what else are you going to do when its 0 degrees out? -Nick.

I would like to order some parts myself, but I start doing that and then one thing turns into another. Besides the wife, two little girls, and another baby on the way don't really agree with that at the moment.
What kind of parts you looking at buying? -Nick.

I tryed to send you an email with my dissasembly pictures, but got a return email saying it was too big of a file.

Im going to try to send you a few.

Unfortunately, the original intention was for me to knwo where the stuff goes upon re-assembly, so some shots might be confusing. If i had of expected to make a cam swap TPI Thread, i would have taken better pictures.

I may take a bunch of pitures in the re-assembly of it, and then show the pictures backwards as if it were to be dissasembled.

You should have a few emails within the hour.

Sheldon

well I've got some already..GM Performance 1.6 ratio rockers..gonna do the valve seals while I'm there..Hooker 2055 ceramic headers..that'll keep me busy straight out for a couple days..I already took the screens out of the MAF and cleaned up a lot of the rough castings in the plenum, added the airfoil, adjustable regulator. In the spring when it warms up I'll do the coolant bypass on the TB. I put the strut brace in yesterday and am waiting for the UMI SF connectors. Then I'm done!....I think...maybe ...a chip?...some dyno runs?..there I go again!!

Thanks Sheldon!

That should make your 350 move a little faster. I am actually in the middle of changing my intake gasket(puddles of oil on top of intake and a snapped thermo-housing bot), putting in a 180* thermo, adding the air foil, replacing my leaky header gasket leak, cleaning up the engine bay a little, and just got done with porting out the plenum. I am keeping everything on the cheap and easy side for now. It is just a 305.

Good To hear.

Like i said, ill take better pictures during re-assembly next week, hopefully i can make a thread or something about changing the cam in the TPI.

I was hoping to have ti all back together by the end of the weekend, but i ended up ordering new valve springs, so now i have to change those.

my-roc, the MAF, mass air flow sensor, does what it's name is. There is a thin filament wire suspended in it that has an electrical current feeding thru it from the ecm. The current is read as a temperature value by the ecm. As the amount of air passing over this wire cools it down, the ecm sends more current to maintain the temperature value. The more air, the more current needed to maintain that temperature. The ecm "reads" this value and uses it as one of the factors in adjusting ignition timing and injector pulse rate. The MAF is metal screened on both ends to prevent big chunks of stuff passing thru it and damaging the wire element. Removing (cutting away) the screens is claimed to increase the air floe thru the sensor, thus more fuel will be added offering another small added gain in performance. I did this along with the airfoil in the throttle body and adjustable fuel regulator all at the same time so I can't say for sure that you would feel any difference other than knowing it all adds up to better performance along with the other stuff, Joe

geat info. M.A.F.

hey joecautela, thank you very much for the info. that is the detailed info i needed. my IROC will love you for it. do you know if it will effect emissions? my car runs super clean any way, except that it is drinking gas by the gallon. Do you have any info on the gas tank pressure relief valve? the short(1 1/2' long) line off the tank. i think its bad,can I clean it with something? the part is plastic. if i get the m.a.f. , this pressure relief valve, and the vacuum canister cleaned of gas or replaced, i think i'll have it all fixed then. please reply, thanks. aaron

aaron, you're jumping all over the place and I'm not sure of what you mean. You say it runs super clean yet it's drinking gas by the gallon? What kind of problem do you have? As for the pressure valve in the gas tank, that's internal and is designed to prevent fuel leak back to the tank when the engine is off. It's like a one way ball valve. The fuel pump pressure opens it to let fuel pass to the motor. Then it closes when the pump is off. Then you mention the carbon canister and the maf in the same sentence. What's up? Joe

here's 3 pics, attached, of the pressure relief valve(i'm not sure if it is bad) and 2 of the vacuum canister fuel line where fuel is being forced out the vent line off the cannister. In the pic it is the line the is steel to rubber line. I hope this explains my self better, thanks.. Aaron

Joe thanks for the detailed info on m.a.f. sensor. I'm sure it will help others too. It's Sunday now and M.A.F. is fixed. My air intake clamp was loose, causing an air leak. I reset computer and no more code 36. Thanks guys.
