Injector decision time. Holley or Accel??

I have a set of Accel 24lb/hr injectors and I have a set of Holley 24lb/hr injectors I'm getting soon. My dilemma is which set to use??? They both are about 3 years old though and have been sitting around. I cannot afford new injectors right now, so. Who has the better ones? The Accels are the single outlet pintle style and I have not seen the sprayer on the Holley. Any ideas or personal experiences would be helpful. Is there a quick test with like an Ohm meter or somethig to see which is in better shape? Any cheap place to send them for cleaning and checking??

Thanx guys

I have a set of Accel injectors on my car. What problems did you have. I've had them for about 3 years now...

I think it's FORD SVO and those are not my choices right now. But thanks anyway.

So far one vote for Holley and one possible for Accel

My car would not run with them in. I tried 5 different chips and about 90 hours troubleshooting and tuning and everything else. I finally gave up and put in SVO's and not a single problem. The car ran fine with the stock injectors or the SVO's but would not run with the Accel's. I heard lots of horror stores about them afterward and Accel would not refund my money, they wanted to send replacements, but all the injectors checked out good on the bench, they just didn't work.

I have Accel's on both of my cars. Once I had a single injector body that was cracked an leaked but under warranty all 8 were replaced.
Otherwise not a single problem with the 16 that i'm currently using.

Does that mean 2 more votes for Accel?

I bought some Accel injectors once. Thankfully through JEGS. Car ran a new best time at the track...and better than my stock injectors...for about two weeks. Two began leaking through the actual body. JEGS refunded every penny since it was less than 30days.

I wouldn't spend a dime on the Accel, which includes any time looking at them. Any negative response greater than 10% I would tend to take a serious look at.

My recommendation would be to send the Holley to www.cruzinperformance.com for flow testing, cleaning, etc. and use them.

WOW,

I didn't know there was so much hate for the Accel injectors. What is the major difference between a set off a Ford and a set off an LT1 camaro or semething. Both being 24lbs of corse. Is there certain model of Fords I should be looking to get a donation from? I cringe at the though of Ford parts on my bird!!

Accel injectors

Not to hijack this thread, but I'm re-building my l98, and my friend who is big time into chevy builds said to get the accel 30# and an AFPR and the thing would run much better, with MUCH better throttle response. He runs a performance chevy shop, and likes the accels, so maybe it's the 24# that have a problem??

I went to that website and asked a question on which injectors they recommended to be the best used injectors to get. He said Ford/Bosch injectors have the best accuracy and reliability. I wonder why that is??

I don't know what engine/parts combo your running but 30# injectors can flow alot of fuel to a Naturally Aspirated engine. If your keeping TPI, maybe too much fuel. Might run rough on the top end unless your guy can tune his *** off. Then again what the hell do I know.

I bought some Accel injectors for my 383 last year. Turns out they are now being made by Bosch. I had them flow tested, no problems!

What style of accel injectors was everyone having problems with? I heard the old ones (yellow blue) sucked but I have a set of the newer bosch style (silver ones) with three spray nozzles.

Yes, that is a good question. I have the yellow ones. The pintle style with the plastic cap. Did accel change to new ones to remedy there previous design problems? Are they made by bosch now? Are they as good as the Ford ones?

The yellow and black Accel injectors were manufactured by a company called Ram. These were discontinued about 2 years ago by Accel due to the amount of problems and returns they had. The current black and silver Accel injectors are a Lucas design (not Bosch) and are manufactured by Standard Motor Products.

Ford does not manufacture injectors. They have contracts with both Bosch and Denso who supply the injectors depending on the application.

Holley does not manufacture their injectors either. They are made by Rochester Products (now called Delphi) and re-boxed as Holley's.

Hope this helps.

injectors

So, are the black-and-silver Lucas ones good injectors? (I'll make sure to stay away from the yellow ones!)

Almost never had issues with Lucas injectors on Jaguars.

I love the newer/later Delphi stuff. If thats what the Holley's are I would run it.

The newer Accel injectors are the Lucas design, manufactured by Standard and are much better than the previous yellow and black Accel injectors.

Holley's are the Multec design manufactured by Rochester. They are not the latest Delphi style.

Ok, So the yellow injectors that I have are crap and I should get rid of them. Will I be fine with Holley's or should I sell them and look for the Ford ones? Or what?? What models of Fords did the good ones come on and what do they look like?? Has anyone tested different manufaturers and found out which ones preformed the best and lasted longer? Who really has the #1 injectors out there.

It seems the problems are always with the yellow Accels, in the #24 & #26 variety. I've been using Accel #36 injectors for years with no problems whatsoever.

Re: Injector decision time. Holley or Accel??

I put the yellow 24# Accel's in my car. They ran fine for a few years and then started to fail. One of them stuck open and hydro-locked my motor.

I've switched to Ford 24# injectors and, so far, no problems.

Re: Injector decision time. Holley or Accel??

I have decided to go with the Holley 24lb injectors. They seem to have the OEM style with 6 or so spay holes for a good fan spray pattern. I will sell the Accels instead. If I have probelms with them I'll switch to the ford ones I guess.
