224/236 cam too big for ported TPI?
I have a tpi setup that was ported by Lingenfelter. I want to know if this cam will be too big. specs are 224/236 @ .050 on a 110 LSA,.528/.520 with factory rockers OR .568 .560 with 1.6 rockers. itsa comp cams piece. Was thinking about using it on my ZZ4 HO shortblock with AFR 180's. Also concerned about california emissions. I had and still plan to use an LPE 219, but I am curious about what I can expect with this cam. Thanks

You know with that tight of a LSA and that much duration your in for real trouble unless you are a top notch EFI tuner and ready to burn a lot of chips. In order to be able to handle that radical of a cam you need cubic inches to mellow it out. Still 110 LSA, that's brave!

check out summit there's a comp cam 212/218 with 110 LSA you could tame that cam eaier and it matches the TPI much better.
check out this thread >https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/tpi/...stock-l98.html <
i made a post with some good cams to chose from in one of the later posts. good info in there about cams if you mind reading.

I think that cam would work fine, as long as you advance it 2-4 degrees, and have a way to do your own custom chips. What heads are you using?

AFR 180's. I think I will stick with my original plan of going with the LPE 219. I love that cam, but I was just curious about how this 224/236 might work. I know it's a bit radical, but you guys have helped my make my decision.

For example, i had a comp cams xe 224/230 on a 112* LSA. It wasnt too harsh. Unfortunately i sold the car before i was able to dial in the tune, but it was definitely do-able.
But dont make the mistake of thinking you wont have to do any tuning the the LPE 219 cam.

I realize it will need a tune. I am not looking for ***** out performance. I want a nice cruiser with some punch, that will still pass california emissions without having to detune the hell out of it.
