WHOA! It drives by itself!!
I noticed this a few days ago, I went to reverse and it started backing up by itself!! I was like what the heck, but it ended up being useful. It was idleing at 500 and then I took it in for repairs and it idles at 700 now! It still moves the same at like 1 - 2 mph.
I'm just checking if it is normal for these cars or not. My mechanic said it was normal so whats your opinion?

Hey, take it easy. There was a time none of us knew what an oil change was. Or which pedal was what. I still remember learning to drive a stick(stupid ditch got in my way).
As long as your idle speed is in within spec while in drive and the brake pressed, then you have nothing to worry about.
If it is higher than it should be, you may have a vaccum leak, or other issues.
Oh, and if your mechanic didn't actually do anything, then nothing should have changed.
Find out exactly what he did, if anything. Why he did it would be nice as well.
