Would an LT1 engine run with TPI electronics?

Say I came across an LT1 engine without wirring or ECM, could the gen 2 engine with it's LT1 intake run with the TPI sensors and ECM?

Why not??? You maybe need to re-wire the inputs for the optispark to the wiring for the old distributor module and coil????

I would love to hear that someone has done this...

Why not just get an LT1 engine harness...seems easy enough to find? Sounds like too much work to try and re-use the TPI harness.

lots of ways to go go about this I've carbed them also. Gotta remember they're not real superior to a L98.

If I go through the trouble to upgrade from the 5.0 to the 5.7 I'd probably end up getting an aftermarket intake down the line anyway. Seems like most of you guys with mods don't run a stock TPI intake. I was thinking it may be cheaper just to swap in a whole LT1.

I was wondering if the swap could be easily done.

Huh.......optispark on the front of the motor, reverse rotation cooling, different exhaust port height, all water hosing different........not to much is the same between the two at all....

Not to mention the PM connecting rods, lighter and better balanced rotating assembly, lighter valve train, better heads, and probably others that have been forgotten.

It is really easier than you think-
  • Pull the intake and drill the back for a distributor.
  • Remove the Opti-Spark (or go ghetto and leave it!)
  • You'll need to use a MAP or a MAF sensor- but you won't need both (just remember to use the right one with the right system- Mass Air versus Speed Density).
  • It will need a custom chip.
