question on cam advance/
i was pulling the springs off my 85 305 the other day to replace what i thought was bad valve stem seals causing smoking at start up I was wrong - the first spring i pulled off the guide was bad and im also assuming the seat is probably pretty beat up being i could rock the valve back and forth. since im pulling it down that far might as well swap the cam out i just want something to wake it up a little and was thinkin of a lunati voodoo cam 454/468 dur @ .050 213/219 lsa 112 will this work well with the stock tpi intake and edelbrock tes headers the advertised rpm range is 1000-5500 should i advance the cam to bring the power in earlier since the tpi is beat around 4500 rpm? this is my driver so im not concerned with peak numbers i want the power down low or does anyone have a better choice for dd flat tappet cam
thanks guys

Re: question on cam advance/
I think that would be a pretty sweet cam.
I have a similar roller cam in my 305 TPI, Crane Powermax 2032 452/465 214(270)/220(276) 112 deg., 1800 to 5800 RPM. This cam moved my power band up about 500 RPM.
If you want to keep your power down low, you may want to keep the duration numbers closer to 205/207. Long duration moves power band up. I'm told that stock heads can handle lifts up to .480 max

Re: question on cam advance/
I just got that exact cam broke in on mine yesterday. It idle's very good, pulls nicely from about 1,200 rpm to 5,500. I am very happy with mine
