mixed up the injectors!

just put on the new slp runners that i got last month and had to unplug the injectors on the drivers side. i think i may have got two of the injectors mixed though. ive tried running the car with the plugs both ways and has made no differance in the running of the car. it runs fine and the runners have really made a big differance in performance! what i need to know is if the plugs for the injectors are the wrong way round will it break anything?

Re: mixed up the injectors!

No, it will not affect anything. The TPI computer is a "batch-fire" system, which means it fires all 8 injectors at the same time. Each bank of four has its own fuse, but they are hooked together inside the computer.

Re: mixed up the injectors!

Hey I was wondering the same thing. I think I got a few of my plugs mixed up on one side of my car too. Are you sure all eight injectors fire at once? Why do some guys call these car seqencel fuel injection ?

Re: mixed up the injectors!

The only 3rd gen that came with sequential fuel injection was the '89 TTA. All others are either batch fire (TPI and MPFI) or alternating injector firing (TBI).

Don't sweat it.
The TPI's are not sequential.

Re: mixed up the injectors!

Should be two 10A fuses in the fuse box: INJ1 &INJ2. Fuse box is above drivers left leg.

There is only 1 driver in the ECM, but a separate connector pin and wire for each set of 4 injectors. If it isn't one of the fuses, it may be the wire/connector for those 4 injectors.

Re: mixed up the injectors!

Uh-OH! That's almost as big a problem as mixing up the spark plugs, or worse, mixing the left and right turn signal bulbs.

Even in a SFI, it will run, but not optimally. In your case, it doesn't even matter if they are switched left to right.
