Upgraded Injectors on L98 = problem

I upgraded my injectors on 91 l98 z28 to 22# bosch injectors, car is running very rich, thinkin about getting adjustable fuel pressure regulator. Is that the right move or is there something in the computer that would help me out better.
ive usually been able to find answers to my questions just through searching the site, but havent found any for this one. thanks

First of all, how do you know the engine is running rich?

The 22s are the correct injectors for an L98.

Re: Upgraded Injectors on L98 = problem

I thought the factory injectors were 19# and the local speed shop said they were either said 17# or 19# factory and suggested an afrp would solve my problem. car smells like its running rich and that's what the speed shop said. I was more or less wondering if I really need to spend $350 per his suggestion
thanks for ur help on this problem doc

Re: Upgraded Injectors on L98 = problem

19s were stock on 305s....22s were stock on 350s.

you sure you have a 350 chip? its possible you have a 305 chip, with the injector constant set for 19 # injectors.

whatever you do,never go back to that shop again, they are morons.

its also possible one of the injectors is bad and leaking when it shouldnt be...or a bad FPR

Re: Upgraded Injectors on L98 = problem

the injectors were installed roughly 2 months ago and it still was running weak after doin the timing and changing the spark plug wires its running strong. when I bought the car it came with NAPA computer in it. didn't lok up the part number could be for a 305 ill check.

So they were scamin me with the afpr recommendation.

I doubt the injectors are leaking and I now know there wrongwith the # but sounds like they might be semi right with the adjustable fuel pressure regulator

thanks

Re: Upgraded Injectors on L98 = problem

i wont say for 100% sure....but i do know there is an injector constant that must be changed when switching injector poundage rates, but in any case, tweaking the FP,to alter your afr{in this instance} is a bandaid...and i personally would never return to the shop for anything.

check the chip, make sure its the 350 chip

I also want to know what the $350 price quote was for? If that was what they quoted you for an AFPR, they're totally ripping you off. The best ones on the market are less than $100.

Re: Upgraded Injectors on L98 = problem

the 350 included 80 dollars for the part and the rest was labor and tax charges

NEW INJECTORS ARE 26#/HR NOT 22

the place i bought the injectors off of had the # wrong for part number
12555894 LS1 injectors. so their 4#/hr more than the reg l98.

I apologize, but i just for kicks looked up the part number and everywhere said 26#/hr except for where i bought them. www.fiveomotorsports.com so i am going to get the afpr and fix that problem.
