My brother had the same problem. He swapped a 305 from a van into his 86 V6 Camaro. Had wires everywhere and eventually got them down to 5 wires. Got a new battery (Optima)...fully charged...put it in the car, everything worked fine. Came back in 15-30 minutes and battery was completely dead.
Charged it back up....NOTHING. Battery wouldnt hold a charge after that. So we de-charged the battery and recharged it professionally....All good for the battery but hasnt put it back in yet...not until his last wires are capped or used.
So its possible its a wire problem.

Thats what I'm hoping, I think it has to do with the wires coming out of the plug on the alt., but I'm not exactly a person you would call a "mechanic" so I don't know where any of it goes...

You should look into one-wire alternators. Talk about less shyt to care about and diagnos. I am getting MSD's 130amp alternator with one-wire capability. Its pricey but I want FULL MSD ignition...its $361 for the alternator from MSD. Lol. But its also Billet Aluminum...too.

Yea that'd be cool, I figured out the problem though, turned out you need the 20A fan fuse in lol. Thanks anyways!
