can i run this cam

i found this cam and i was wondering could i use this in my engine.. the lift is pretty close to what the stock heads can take and very similar to what the powermax 2032 cam would have at 1.6 rockers..... what do i need to run this.. its a comp cam and according the the camshaft article on third gen.org it says that its an factory replacement camshaft.. so i should work.... right and how would this camshaft sound.. would it be any better than the powermax 2032 cam....

i have an 1988 pontiac trans am gta with the 350 engine...

I dont think stock springs can handle that but i might be wrong but i would get new ones if you did get that cam just because of how old they are and that is alot bigger than stock check your resource's again....good luck

Re: can i run this cam

Too much lift for stock clearances between the bottom of the retainer and the top of the guide boss. In order to run that cam, if it were my engine, I would have the guide bosses milled down and/or run +.050" retainers/locks.

Stock springs suck. Period. They're about as weak as anything. I would change out stock springs for stock springs even if the rest of the motor is stock. If a cam is changed, I would definitly change out springs. Crazy not to. Did I mention stock springs suck?
