fuel injectors leaking .01ohms?
recenlty, my car has been running like crap! I noticed that it was backfiring through the exhaust as if it was running rich under WOT. It quickly went from bad to worse! I noticed that my car would run at cruise crappy, and under a load, it was as if the car was drowning!
Fuel psi was 43.5, but psi quickly dropped to 30 with the key off in a matter of seconds. 2 minutes later, zero pressure. I put my ohm meter on to the injectors and I was getting 0.01 ohms?
I purchased the injectors off of ebay 4 years ago and they did not look as good as promised. 4 of the injector caps were cracked. I replaced the caps and my car ran fine for 4 years.
So, What could have caused this problem? They all crapped out at the same time

well, the resistance in it is definitely shot, but that is not causing the injector to leak. The injector is leaking if there is something stuck in it, not allowing it to seat in the closed position. ANyways, the resistance is way out of spec, that injector is dead. Probably others too. Replace them with new ones. I hear ford svo ones are great for tpicars.

yea, I have the ford svo 30lb injectors. The concerning thing is ALL 8 injectors are shot????
What could cause this? I thought my fuel psi regulator was bad. I inspected it and it looked good. Then, I checked my ohms and found that all 8 checked out at 0.01.....ALL 8
Can they all go bad over a matter of 4 days?

Not to be rude but do you know how to use a multimeter? If the two probes touch you'll certain get .01 ohms of resistance. I don't know your background at all so please don't take that personally if it seems absurd- such low resistance is just extremely uncommon.

Na, your not being rude. I'm a paramedic with a CS- software/network degree.....go figure. I set my ohms to 20, touch opposite sides of the injector with one black, one red and I get .01 reading. When I touch the probes together, I get 0.0. Last time I checked my injectors they read 16.5 and that was years ago when I first purchased them.
I thought it was kind of wierd that all 8 had such a low reading?
I wonder if a short would cause such a problem? Just a thought. That being said, What is the voltage at teh injector plug supposed to read?

Ok, a nap did me well. First off, I was up all night at work, then stayed up when I got home @ 0900 today to work on my car. I slept from midnight till 0230 and didn't catch a wink after that call. Needless to say, I was not working with a full deck today, till I got a few hrs of sleep. Turns out I had my multimeter on 20k not 20. After a nap and now feeling like an idiot, all 8 injectors are reading 14.6 ohms.

That's a little more like it, since I was wondering myself how the car would even start with injectors that dead. I assumed maybe not all of them were reading 1 ohm. 14.6 is good, but all that says is the injectors should open and close, it does not tell if one or more is clogged though.

i just had a problem where the injectors ohmed good when cold, but lost all resistence once they heated up. And 7 went all at once (the other was replaced last fall after it shorted out and destroyed my ecm

I can't even run my car long enough to get it hot! Maybe 20 seconds! I am in total hate with my car. I'm going to grab a pick head axe of the engine since I work tomorrow, take that bad boy home and whack the FU@$ out of my car with the pick end
What started all of this mess was that I replaced a rocker nut and lashed my valves. I accidently clamped my valve cover on my pink ignition wire and had a huge short. I followed it into the cab of my Z, repaired it and it ran fine for a month. Now, my car seems to be running so rich, it does not even run anymore??? One thing I noticed was that when I hit my brakes, my fog lights with the switch on and my lights off would turn on when I hit my brakes. Also my marker lights and my dash lights come on when I hit my brakes. I have tried to follow the wires but it is a maze......ing. Dash is apart and that nickle plated pick head axe just might do the tirck
