Throttle body air filter or stock air filter?
Throttle body air filter or stock air filter?
What is better, to strap a cone filter on to the throttle body or to keep it stock?
SLP's cold air induction looks nice but I have two tickets to pay for so it is not an option....
thanks

I would but K&N's inside the stock airbox before going to the cone type. The cone will pick up more underhood heat then the stock airbox. If you have no attachment to your stock airbox there are some tech articles on cutting holes in the airbox to allow more airflow. Keep an eye on the forsale boards, I picked up my SLP dual cold air from a guy in Hawaii pretty cheap. However I did have the expense of moving the battery to the trunk.

I was wondering the same thing. what if you put a filter right on the TB and then disconnected the black hose piece that runs from the box to the TB, but left the rest in tact, so air would blow right onto the filter? Or is the K&n's w/ homemade ram air more effective?

just to make a point , you can only use the filter on the tb if you have speed density.. and unless you have a cowl induction hood, that filter is only going to suck in warm air,,, warm air isnt good. just run a custom cold air setup from the stock housing.
if you were talking to me, I do have Speed Density. and about the hot air, thats why I was thinking of leaving everything intact minus the short black tube that connects the plastic piece to the TB, so it would blow cold air onto it.

Which do you think is better: A closed system that sucks only cold air, or an open system that sucks hot air and might get some cold air in there too?

Dont put on the cone style on the Tb. It sucks up the hoodliner insulation and hot air, and in my opinion, open air elements belong on carb cars. It makes a loud vacuum leak sucking sound too. STick w/ the box, it sucks up cool dense air, not warm, dirty air.
