Porting the Plenum?????

Need a few questions answered......
What drill bits will I need to properly port the inside of the plenum??
What grade sand paper is best to polish the plenum??
Can you port the TB, and if so will I need to get bigger TB plates??
Any help is appreciated.

First, don't do anything to the Tb unless you're an expert! That's best left to the experts.
Hit the dremel bits stand in your hardware store and get the barrel sander with 60 to 150 grit rolls. Thats what I used. You could go rougher, like 40 probably to move more material quicker. For the major areas I got the cutter that looks almost like a gear, it's silver, shiny and only cuts in one direction, sorry, don't have the pkg anymore. Hope this helps.

I would use a die grinder, not a Dremel. The Dremel is small and won't have the horsepower you need, not to mention the reach inside the plenum. A die grinder is more expensive though.

instead of wasting yer time with this TPI i would spend the time and money on a good intake and carb...TPI is ok if you got ALOT of money to spend ....and don't mind CONSTANT problems.Oh yeah and when you have a problem ...good luck finding a good wrench to really find the problem

A Dremel is plenty adequate when it comes to porting the soft metal of the plenum and intake manifold. Works very well. You can also buy a flexible attachment that allows you to go anywhere a die grinder could go.

I found that my local welding supply had bulk abrasive cartridge rolls & mandrel bits way cheaper than the porting "kits" like the Standard Abrasives ones in Summit or Jegs. I spent maybe $15 for enough to port the plenum, runners, and base. Also a carbide aluminum (course) burr is really helpful for removing the thick parts, then polish with the abrasive rolls.

I think that a 1/4" collet die grinder is the way to go; if you have an air compressor a $20 "cheepie" from harbor freight (etc..) will outperform a dremel by quite a bit (was that a pun? A drill will work too but it sure would be awkward to say the least.

Good Luck,
-Tim-

Why the hell are you trying to tell someone on a TPI board to get rid of their TPI. Ya Anus! Go buy a carburated Pinto and get out our board!
