Why is car running so rich

Hey i have a 1987 Trans Am 350tpi. With the screw on the AFPR all the way out the car is running to rich. You can't stand behind the car before the fumes run you out. I Have the stock 19lbs injectors. What do you think the prablem is. Thanks

Need more info. When did it start running rich? Did you change or add anything? Will the fuel pressure change when you adjust it? What is the pressure reading with and with out vacuum?

It started running rich as soon as i put the 350 engine in. Also when i change the pressure it goes up like it is suppose. With the vacuum on it reads 36psi with it off it reads 46psi. I'am getting code 24 and 42 which are speed sensor and ignition spark control. I know it confusing. Please help

I'm not sure what your problem is, but I did the same thing with the same results. You probably should go to a 350 chip. I went to a chip burner guy and change the settings to lean it down after I melted two cats.

I don't mean to sound like a ***** Larry, but it seams to me that you are running a little slow in the 1/4. Your MPH should be a little higher, at least 2 more MPH. I'm sure the 305 chip has something to do with this as well as your too rich condition, although I though the 305 chip would make you run lean instead of rich. Oh well!

Yeh i know the MPH is off. I still need a custom chip. I also have a HD Flywheel that weights 20LBS heavier than stock.

Hey F22,,

Why you think you're over 5 mph off ONEORMULAOVERALL's speed? He doesn't even have a "big ole" cam. 109.75 mph? He11,, I'm barely doing that with heads and a cam!! I gotta get another exhaust,, or something!!!
