MAF SENSOR

I need a new MAF sensor. An original BOSCH for my 87 TPI 350, IROC, costs 600.00 canadian. Does anyone know of higher flowing/better MAF sensors that can be purchased in Canada or mail ordered from the States.
Thanks!

You could try TPIS. They have some. Their address is www.tpis.com.
Hope this helps.

unless you have a lot of mods and like 500hp, you dont need a high flow maf.. get one cheap off of ebay.

I don't know about anyone else but i've had a lot of problems with my modified sensor. I plan to change to a super ram eventually but for now i'm just gonna keep my stock sensor on cause i've replaced two. One i ordered modified and one i did myself. And you can't send em back to gm after the screens come off. Like he said unless you have around 400-500 hp or so i don't think it's worth it. But thats just my opinion.

What about that one made by Wells? Supposedly outflows the original GM one-unmodified! You might want to look into that.

How about updating to the 1990 ecm?. yes it's work, but allows updating what you have to MAP, and their are millions of good used MAPs around. The MAF situation will just be getting worse

What is wrong with MAF? If a lot of mods are in the future why convert to SD now? That doesn't make sense...replace the MAF with one of those Wells MAF sensors.....then once u are done with your major mods convert to SD if u wish....to do it now would be foolish.....why have to spend $$$ on a new chip all the time? Why spend A LOT more $$ on converting to SD when u can get a new MAF a lot cheaper?

fly89gta, What i think grumpy is getting at is that by updating you will save ALOT of money compared to buying new MAF sensors all the time... i mean damm! a new MAF is what 300+? You can get a new MAP sensor for like 50bucks right?
Another reason grumpy says that is because he makes his own chips and is probly pretty damm good at it by now. But i also understand what your saying about the chip factor because i don't have the knowledge or equipment yet to do it myself.

lierch i understand what he's saying but how often do MAF sensor's go? i'm now on my third 3rd gen and have only had 1 MAF go on me....plus don't u have to get a SD plenum? i think they are a bit different(don't quote me though cause i'm not 100% sure). If u can burn your own chips than thats definatly an advantage.....and no not all MAF's are $300...thats a bosch one....Wells sells them for around $160 and they flow more than the bosch's

I'd rather have to replace my maf every few years (they can be had w/ lifetime warranty) than have to burn a new chip every time I do another mod.

Never had my MAF go bad... On 3 different cars too. There is nothing to 'deal' with when running a 165, it just requires some thought rather than just throwing your hands in the air and running to a different system that has its own limitations as well.
