Need help choosing select parts for a 383 L98

I’m having my ’87 L98 stroked to a 383. It’s being built by a local engine builder. The car is a daily driver and must be able to handle We’re using a cast crank, forged 6” rods and forged pistons. He’ll be re-working my aluminum L98 heads(porting, competition valve job, larger valves,etc..) . I’m trying to re-use as many existing parts as I have. Compression will be between 10-10.5. The car must pass NJ emissions. Obviously a custom chip is in order also.
This includes:
Modified maf, 52mm TB, ported plenum, big mouth manifold, APFR

I will probably get an AS&M semi-siamesed LTR as a $$ compromise. It’s about $200 cheaper and I don’t have to get a 58mm TB for the time being. I need to provide the following:

1. camshaft(can I reuse my exist hyd roller lifters?)- I’m leaning towards LPE 219, poss. upgrade to SR in a couple years
2. roller rockers(builder said aluminum is fine, I’m thinking 1.6 ratio) specific part recommendations?
3. long tube headers
4. fuel injectors- in the interest of saving $$, can I reuse my existing injectors? They are stock flow but previous owner put on Rochester blueprinted injectors
5. custom chip- considering Fastchips or having a chip burned while being dyno tuned locally(Ida automotive, Morganville, NJ)

I’ve read John Lingenfelter’s Modifying small blocks and TPIS insider hints. Between this and following this great forum, I’m suffering from information overload. I would appreciate any suggestions.
Thanks in advance

I'm reusing my stock lifters. I would go with some nice roller tip rockers from someone like comp or crane. As far as injectors go I think you would be better off going with 24# injectors because the factory ones probably won't cut it.
Where is this Dyno that you know of in NJ? I would love to dyno my car when it's done.

If you have a good engine builder this shouldnt be a problem but make sure to have your rods clearanced for the cam. When I started off on my 383 project I used the L98 cam to get it dialed in at first and got away with the stock injectors.

87z-ya......do you know if you always have to clearance the rods? Unfortunately I already had my rotating assembly balanced and I didn't have them clearanced. I'm really starting to worry that I'm going to have problems upon assembly.

You'll be better off getting your lift from the cam rather than 1.6 rockers. Less stress on the valvetrain in the long run. You'll be fine reusing the stock lifters BUT you must make sure they are in the same hole they came out of and in the same orientation. If it's too late, you'll probably be alright, but I wouldn't take the chance.

In almost every situation with a stroker you have to clearance the rods. The only way around it is to get a small base circle cam (but that leads to other problems). I used to work in a machine shop and its not a big deal if you already had it balanced. Your taking a few grams of the big end so its not that bad. Put your engine together and slowly work in the cam. Turn the motor over by hand and look at where the rods are hitting the cam. If your rods are similar to stock rods the top of the rod bolt on the inside of the rod will hit. With most cams its cyl 2 and 6 that are the worst but I grind down all of the bolts to aid with future cam swaps. If you have rods with cap type screws you may have to grind a little off the rod itself or maybe not at all. Install the pistons without the rings when you do this proceedure and mark each piston to where you put it in at. You will want a clearance of .020 to aid with expansion. If you do it right you wont have any problems and the balance wont e affected drastically.

a lot of forged rods are built to clear the cam in a stroker motor.

89IROC7,
I only went to Englishtown a couple times this past year. I didn't feel the car was running right. Next year with the new motor I'll be making a few more trips.

One thing on the cam selection, instead of a $400 LPE cam I would recommend a Comp Cams XR270 on a 112 LSA. It has 218@.050 intake and 224@.050 exhaust duration with .495/.502 lift with 1.5 rockers. I have this in my car and it idles fairly smooth and pulls to 6000 rpm
