Car: 1986 Iroc Camaro
Engine: 305 TPI
Transmission: Th700R4 Jr. Raptor
You know, i own a 1986 IROC with a wimpy cam too. I remember in SUMMIT there was a cam for 305 TPI they had, that they installed on a 1986 IROC Camaro TPI, that gave 40 more horses, and places the torque and hp a little higher up. and took a full second off the 1/4 time.

of course, who knows if it is true, but im sold, i want to pick one up sometime, and see how good it really is. but just a suggestion, because i also have the stupid peanut emission cam

Since you have an 89, your engine has a roller cam. That kit will not work with your engine. Look at a GM zz-4 cam, a comp cams 303 or 304, or a crane compucam 2030, 2031 or 2032. All of these are hydraulic roller camshafts. Call up crane and compcams and talk to their tech dept. Also do a search in the archives. I am going with the zz-4 cam in my 87 this spring.

My friend used the smaller of the SLP cams for his 89 RS LO3 that he converted to TPI.

Car: 87 IROC
Engine: modded LB9
Transmission: Pro Built 700R4
I e-mailed comp cams regarding their HR262-12 cam and here's the reply I got

"the HR262-12, p/n 08-300-8, would do an excellent job in your
engine. It is designed to be computer friendly, an make excellent power from
1000-5000 RPM"

I'm tempted to get it but it's a massive job fitting it.

Here Here! I am a big fan of the XE262 / XR262 grinds of Comp Cams. Their 214/224 degree split duration cam is very lively, and with the 12 degree LSA, it should work well in a TPI equipped car.

See my little flat-tappet XE262H cam in my SIG? Combined with some home-porting of my own heads, headers, stall converter, and an old used Edelbrock Performer manifold, my motor is nearing 101MPH in the quarter mile. YMMV, of course!
