Best engine combo from these parts.
Best engine combo from these parts.
I own way too many parts and I need to start using them. What is the best way to go?
I have a complete 305 TPI with a bad bottom end.
I have a 67 327 with 202's ect. runs great fresh heads. Option 1, install tpi on this motor.
I have a 96 Vortec 350 out of a truck with 16000 miles on it complete motor no wiring or computer? Option 2, buy the vortec base when it comes out and install tpi on this motor.
Option 4, buy a crate 350 and install the tpi on it. This is my least desirable option since I need to use some of the parts that I already own.
Option 5, Get a 350 short block and install a set of old style 202 heads and tpi. Not my favorite option but I do have three sets of these heads.
Option 6, I don't know do you guys have any suggestions.
------------------
2E,87 Formula 350,with coolant bypass and 160 thermostat and chip. 1986 Z28 with 327 & 202 heads and 5 speed, and usually 4 or 5 others Camaro's & 3 Firebirds to fix, Drive, or sell.

i'd use the truck engine and tpi. as much as i like the 327 tpi on it's a bad choice. the 327 is a rpm loving engien and makes its best power at higher rpms the tpi is a low end induction set up.

Ede is right on this one;
Use the Vortech 350 engine. Upgrade the cam and valvetrain, and add the SDPC2000 Vortech TPI manifold. Sell the 327 to a collector; Put the 305 block (less TPI) in the newspaper's classified ad column under "free".
These days, 202 heads are hard to justify rebuilding when you can get such great castings from the aftermarket. Unless you have the tools to recondition them yourself, consider turning them into cash.
