A part of an automatic tranny. Allows for a faster/firmer shift.

It allows for harder and quicker shifts just like above, but it also selects the gears better. For instance it holds the gears a little bit longer even under part throttle acceleration.

Are you sure about that Irocmaniac? I thought shift points were controlled by the governer.

You could possibly be right, my tranny guy told me that it made it hold the gears longer. I was worried when I first got it back because it would hold first gear to 9-10 mph whether or not I was or wasn't accelerating and before it would shift to second as early as 5 mph. Well I called him and he said it is the Corvette servo that makes it hold the gears longer. However I may be wrong or misunderstood him, it happens from time to time. GMTech would be really good at answering this question if it were reposted in the tranny section.

I will answer it right here for ya. The Vette servo shifts faster because the size of the apply piston is smaller. Its really simple, but you would have to have a small background in hydraulics to understand. Tightening up in the TV cable, or changing the spings or weights in the governer will hold shifts longer. The servo will just make it firmer by doing it faster.

Heres a little more info: Vette Servo

How do you adjust the TV cable? Will additional tention be created causing the cable to hit it's limit in movement?

You can "ratchet" it back a tooth or two, but when you really drop the hammer (WOT) it may ratchet back out. YOur best bet is to probably play with the governer.
