can some one please help me i need to know what the stock chip was that came in my car the part # and stuff i have a 89 trans am gta 5.7 automatic TPI (thats what the title says) but i have a cold start injector which i have read was done away with in 89. I need this info becasue i was going to order a chip from tpichips.com and the guy told me he needed the number off the stock chip and i went to go look at it and found i had a hypertech chip in the car i looked up that part # and the chip is for a 87

I realy need this bad becasue i need to diasable the vats so my car will start i just rebuilt the motor and i guess something got screwed up it will crank but not start some one told me it was the vats

On the home page of this site there is a section called "Third Gen Tech FAQ" that has a listing of stock PROM part numbers.

Sounds to me like you DO NOT have a 1989, but a 1987.

What's your VIN# (excluding the last 6 digits) so it can be confirmed that your car is indeed a 1989 with a 1989 TPI. There is a good possiblity that either the car is not a 1989 or the car had the engine/intake swapped.
