Re: what should i buy
the real question is what are you trying to accomplish? and do you need wires or an air filter? if you do those would probably be a good choice.. the K&N's might save u a little gas.. the rest of the stuff is kinda useless...unless ya need it..

Re: what should i buy
The foils are worth a whopping .5hp? 1hp? Waste of $.
If your wires are good, new ones won't help much, if any. Same thing with a coil.
On your list, I'd start with K&Ns. If the engine can't breathe, anything else you add, wouldn't be, as good as it could be.

Re: what should i buy
If they are 19/20 year old wires, it certainly wouldn't hurt. But measure them with a meter first. The chances of them being the originals, are pretty slim. Replacement without testing first, leads to a lot of unneeded expense.

Re: what should i buy
If they have burn spots, I'd start with those. Weak spark can reduce hp. Who knows? You might be able to swing wires & K&N for just a little more.
Go with AC Delco plug wires. All the aftermarket are realy just hype. Ask any GNX/TTA owner. Those guys seem to have spent tons of time trying different aftermarkets, including dyno time, between plug wires, on the same day. And always go back to REAL AC Delco plug wires.
Check your plugs too. With the bad plug wires, some plugs might be fouled, due to weak sparks.
Take care of the basics. Mods are pointless, if the basics are in bad shape.

I would also make a suggestion to cut out your air boxes. Like Stephen said, the car has to breathe, and that is a free mod that works well, as long as you don't mind a little extra noise(only reason they are there). Joined: Dec 1999

Re: what should i buy
save some more and buy into a low risk stock. ride it for the long haul 20+ years longer the better.
BTW not to sound like a jerk but from your list none of that is worth what it costs. just do your up keep like the wires, cap/rotor, plugs and a clean paper filter
you would need to start with headers and catback for any noticable improvment.

Buy something that types the whole question in the subject line instead of it being like a cracker jack box... never know what you get til you're inside...

yeah that to probably get the wires first then i get the k&n later if i can afford both i get them..
Re: what should i buy
i made a cool air intake for mine for about 35 dollars...it helps it breathe a little better but overall it wasnt really quite worth it i think, the air foil that i got wasnt worth a whole lot either, i have original wires still on my 87 t/a and i think i should change them out lol but i must say, i have tried every cheap way to add power and have not had any great success, i have not foudn that cheap wonder trick that'll boost me 50 hp...i would say that your best bet is to get the 'lungs' together on your car, i.e. take care of the intake, take care of the exhaust, save up for headers and look in the classifieds or on ebay (i just bought some on here for 150, hardly used) cuz if you get the air through quicker, then you can get more fuel in, which means new injectors, maybe a bigger pump...the good stuff....
all in all, what i'm trying to say is that you should aim for the intake lol
or be like the a-holes with cobras and little ricers and get some nos, blow your motor and then cry all week about it lol

Re: what should i buy
umm i think im going to buy a muffler, then probably gut or remove the cat since i took all the smog sh*t off.probably the best i think increase hp and sounds nice at the same time for 50bucks
Re: what should i buy
Exhaust is a huge thing for these cars. They are so restricted from the factory it's not even funny. My '88 IROC had 2.77 gears, and the best I could get was a 15.02 out of it. I bought $100 Autozone 1 1/2" headers, cut out the airboxes, removed smog, and cleaned the cat, and went 14.61! Just goes to show how restricted they really are.
