Re: Replacing Injectors

Yes. In order to pull the injectors, you must remove the plenum, runners, and fuel rail.

Do a quick search and you will probably find more details.

Hope this helps.

Re: Replacing Injectors

take ur time or ur just waisting ur time and money

theres a great tutorial how to on this site in tech articles.

first remove gas cap and fuel fuse, this will bleed the fuel pressure.

run the engine till it stalls from no fuel pressure.

then disconnect the battery for safety

get a chiltons manual and go through the procedure of removing the air filter system, throttle body, plenum, runners then fuel lines to the fuel rail(have a rag ready for a little fuel leakage), then remove the fuel rail with the old injectors(it will be alittle tough but pop them out in pairs since they are group two at a time)

then with the fuel rail on ur table turn the injector rings and pop them out one by one. it till be tough becuase they are really in there. then get regular engine oil and lube up the new injector rubber o-rings and pop the new injectors back in and start putting things back together in reverse order.

also pop the new injectors in as pairs just like you popped them out.

this is a great time to clean ur plenum and runners and put in an adjustable fuel pressure regulator and polish your plenum and runners a bit.

depends how much time you have. also buy a throttle body/runners gasket kit because i garruntee you'll have air leaks if you don't replace the original ones after separating them from the engine.

goodluck.

Re: Replacing Injectors

ok i replaced the injectors and when i got to start the car it will start and run then eventually die if u dont give it gas...the small hose that connect to the round thing directly underneath the plenum is not connect to anything, cant find where it goes...and could this be whats causing that problem? thanks

Re: Replacing Injectors

the hose in the back of the plenum goes to your brake booster.

the hose on the driver side goes to your pcv valve

the small little hose on the passenger side goes to your fuel pressure regulator
----------
if it still doesnt stay running might have a air leak. use WD-40 and spray around the gasket areas and make sure tihngs are nice n tight but dont torque too much because you don't want to strip the aluminum threads

Re: Replacing Injectors

a leak in the gasket for one of the runners would cause it to stall like that??

Re: Replacing Injectors

OK i checked today and the car no longer stalls, it maintains an idle but there seems to be a hesitation when i hit the gas from a stop, it never did that before...would a leaking gasket from the runners cause that or is it something else?

Re: Replacing Injectors

yes an air leak will really mess up your idle.

the hesitation could be ignition related to your distributor. the distributor does most of the work getting your car going.

after you get passed 15mph or so the engine and the weight of the car with all its momentum built up helps push and pull your car to a nice steady smooth ride. at least thats what ive been told when i had hesitation getting out of 1st gear on my automatic.

if its been a while since you've updated your ignition system it wouldnt be a bad idea to do it now.

new spark plugs
plug wires
distributor cap and rotor
new ignition module is cheap enough to replace jsut make sure you use the electric grease that comes with it.
make sure the battery terminals are clean and make good contact
make sure same terminals are clean at your starter

you also should spend the 14 bucks and replace your temperature sender. its vital to how your engine runs. it tells the computer how hot or cold the engine is. it helps the computer know when to go into closed loop.

anyways sounds like your car is fine but def. can be running better esp if you do this kind of tune up.

just suggestions that I listed here.

Re: Replacing Injectors

my car has been off the road for about 3 months and i replaced all those parts in that time so i dont think it has anything to do with that, my guess is there is a leak somewhere where the runners meet the intake manifold or the plenum, because it didnt hesitate before i took that apart...i ll replace the gaskets and see what that does. thanks for the info tho...if anyone has had a similar experiece let me know thanks
