bad O2 censor, Code 32

Would a bad O2 sensor cuase the EGR system to malfunction, or cause a code 32 , Just wondering , my car is back at the shop after code 32 reappeared. Im just trying to figure what the heck it's doing

No it wouln't. The O2 sensor and the EGR are two completly different sytems and do not share any funcion, diagnostics, etc... If that shop said that the O2 sensor caused a 32, its time for a new shop. Like they always tell us at work, if you can't "change" the employee, than you need to change the employee. Catch my drift?

Some ecm calibrations look for a O2 change when the EGR applies. Rare not to set a 13/44/45 more often thou

Very unusual considering the nature of the O2 sensor, what it does, and how it responds.

WEll just to let everyone know ,, who might be going through the same thing i did. I finally figured out what was wrong , after changing egr valves and os sensors and vacume lines and vacume soilinoid . after i had the car inspected for imissions and it passed perfectly ,, i was crusing it that night and blink it came on again , code 32 , well after ready my service manual from the dealer. it said that the ecm checks the map sensor for a drop in preasure to see if the system is working , the egr system that is. well i spent the 30 bucks and replaced the map sensor and its worked fine ever since .

Moral of the story...don't go by SES codes by themselves. I have found a number of times that when another sensor (in this case your MAP) gets "weak" that other components will attempt to "compensate" and they end up triggering the SES code.

You need to have a scan tool running at the time the code is set to properly see what is going on and to isolate the problem.

FYI, I found that if my eprom wasn't erased quite long enough (yet good enough to think it was blank and acceptable for programming), that I would trigger a code 32. Increasing the erase time by 1 minute always cured this problem.

Go figure.
