Can a 305 TPI unit be bolted to a 350?
The 305's and 350's use the exact same setup. Only difference is the injectors are 19lbs for 305, 22lbs for 350.

#1,
Yes. The casting numbers are the same. The throttle body bore is the same. The MAF is the same (for MAF cars). The FPR is the same, as are the cold start, runner sizes, TPS, wiring, EGR, fuel rails and lines, vacuum routing, PCV, yada, yada...
The major difference in the two systems is the flow rate of the injectors (19lb/hr on the 305 versus 22lb/hr on the 350), the PROM in the ECM, and the sensitivity of the detonation (knock) sensor.
As for the ZZ4 engine design under a TPI, the ZZ4 cam is suited to higher RPM power and flow more than the older TPI cam designs. This would indicate a need to alter the TPI to provide more upper RPM flow, like detuning the TPI and opening the flow a bit. This would mean shorter runners and larger ports, including the intake base runner and port sizes. If you are going to siamese the runners, you might want to break through the plenum openings and blend them into the runners better.
If you are seeking more torque and less upper RPM flow than the ZZ4 was designed to provide, keep the plenum design stock but clean up the port alignment. The cam should be adequate to make good low torque, but won't be optimal for the original TPI system design. For a more optimal design, higher lift with shorter duration would be more suited to the TPI theory. It's your call.

Re: Can a 305 TPI unit be bolted to a 350?
Hey guy's, new to the forum.
I'm gonna bolt a 1986 tpi to a 400 in a 1974 monte carlo.
Im not interested in any power gains, just cruise ability and the wow effect when the hood is popped at the car shows.
I have everything covered as far as mechanicals, what I need is a prom
burned for maf, no egr, 9th inj. delete, no vss.
the 400 is a completely stock low horsepower motor, turbo 350, It's the wife's car. what would the best combo be for me? sorry for being all over the place with the questions. just getting a little burned out with all the reading! 3 days straight! thanks in advance guys!

Re: Can a 305 TPI unit be bolted to a 350?
I am new to this site and just registered. I don't know how to post a question. But I will ask in this reply if I can. I have a 1986 iron-z.
And I put a lot of money into it but it keeps breaking down. Had fuel coming out of exhaust so I put new rubber seals on injectors now as I'm putting the fuel rail on I tap the side of the fuel rail to push the connecting tubes into the rubber seals. As I'm turning on the ignition the fuel is coming out of the fuel regulator vacuum hose into the throttle body and the starter engages but will not turn the fly wheel.

You need to rebuild your regulator.
Start a new thead abouth the problem as well. Will get better response then this one.
