Will it work?

I am looking at buying a TPI unit from an '87 T/A to replace my TBI unit now on my '88 Camaro. Will it work? Which years are the "old years" where the "old" TPI units will not work on my '88 Camaro engine? Please help!!

I believe '88 is the cut off!! In '88 GM changed the TPI setup a bit and I could be wrong but I don't think the '87 TPI setup will work with your '88!! Call GM and ask them, they'll be able to tell you for sure!!

Cam350,

The TPI should bolt on, but the '87 and older TPI units have a provision for the cold start injector, whereas '88 and later TPIs eliminated the cold start in favor of cold enrichment through the eight service injectors.

You'd have to get a PROM for an '87 to use the cold start valve and system, but the rest should work the same.
