is the cam in the impala lt1 the same specs as a trans am? Im looking for a cam upgrade for my 87 305tpi for under $100. i like the zz4 but i just want to drop the cam in with out clearance probs so ill have to steer clear of anything over .470 lift w/1.5 rockers thanks.

 

depends on the year of your car and if its a stick or auto which decides which cam you have now. if you do not have the L98 cam then the LT1 cam will make a difference if you do have the L98 their should be very very minimal if anything gained.

 

The Impala has a smaller cam than the regular LT1. It was ground to get the boxcar body moving. Same cam is in the L31 Vortec pickup 96-99 or so. You can do a lot better with LT1 vett or F body cam.
Impala 191/196 418/430 grind 779 not much.
F and Y LT1 (95) 201/208 447/459 grind 705 much better.
