Trick Flows: Which is better, 23* or Twisted Wedge?

I am thinking about going with a new set of heads with my current engine build and the prices on the TFS heads are pretty good (especially with the discount ). Which heads work better on TPI's, the Twisted Wedge or the 23* ones? The engine will have the Edelbrock TES, ported and matched plenum and intake with SLP runners, and the LT4 Hot Cam.

can you pull the valve covers with the super ram still on? or is it like those crappy 5.0 mustangs that you have to pull the upper intake to remove the valve covers?

THE 23 DEG!!!!!!!. Twisted wedge are crap. They warp, crack, and have hoprrible Valve geometry. I bought a set of 23 deg heads...beutiful pieces. Plus I got the word from the man of SB chevys himself-Ed Taylor. His shop is next to mine. He dynos these things all the time and highly recomends them. He tested the 23 deg vs AFR heads and the TFS made only 3(three) less HP! They are also reliable and $850 from summit. Can't be beat!

I am leaning toward the 23* heads as of now. I see a lot of people running these. What is your setup and what kind of power/performance did you get with them? Are they the plain 23* or the CNC-profile chambered ones?

...I've run both on my car...had the TW heads on for about 7 years and just switched to the CNC 23 degree heads. If you use the TW centerbolt heads, you have to gut your valve covers to clear the rockers, and you're severely limited on aftermarket rocker selections. With the 23 degree heads the Crane Gold 1.6 rr's clear the stock valve covers fine. Can't really vouch for the performance difference between the two because when I replaced the heads I also replaced the cam and rockers and did some port matching, but having put up with the oil leaks caused by the TW heads and the valve cover hassles, I would definitely recommend going with the CNC 23 degree heads if you have a choice...

Has anyone got any 1/4 times with the 23* heads? I havn't had any problems with mine. I think the problem is people using the incorect lengh push rods with the tfw heads.

I think the 23 degree heads flow like 20 cfm @28 inches more on the intake side also. Someone also mentioned that you need to hack the valve covers on the twisted wedge heads.

My TFS twisted wedge heads flowed 230 cfm@ .550 lift on thew intake side

I think people are flowing 250 cfm out of the newer 23 degree heads.

I'm using the TFS 23* and have no complaints about them. Have gone 11's NA with those heads fully ported. You can use standard valve train components without any problems. From what I hear, alot more consideration to valve train components is needed with the TW's and also a limitation with valve lift before having the re-cut the piston notches. Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't the TW's use cheaper cast valve guides? If that is the case, not a very good idea on aluminum heads. Should be using bronze guides like the 23*.

Motor is not built yet. It is a FT 355 with accel SR intake, DFI, LT4 HOT CAM, 1.6 Comp magnum R/A. Given that the this is all the same as the ZZ430 motor from GM (except for the heads, fast burn vs TFS 23), which makes 430 HP, I am hoping for 430-450 GROSS HP; since the TFS flow better than the Fast burns. It is going in a high tech 46' chevy pickup, with a 700R4, that weighs 3000lbs.....EEEEE-HAW. That will be one wild ride...and a tire burner.
