Crazey old SLP TPI
Crazey old SLP TPI
Check this link out, specifically the red thirdgen firebird about halfway down. This car looks like the $HIT, minus those corney wheels. What is all that junk over the runners? Anybody have one?

That's the SLP Tunnel Ram setup for the Firehawks.... nothing unusual. There are some Firehawks still out there... a guy in our club here had one, sold it last year for 33k and the guy who bought it had it stolen 2 weeks later.... figure the odds.
By the way, those are the Firehawk wheels too....

Are you nuts? The Firehawk was the baddest thirdgen ever made,I'd kill for one.Ive seen 1 in person and it was awesome! They ran low 13's with street tires, and I bet with some sticky tires could have been in the mid-high 12's and blow away any stock LS1 F-body as well. Some(I think 2)came with an all aluminum 375hp moter and were even faster.I'd like to build my own someday(91-92 Formula 5spd,ZZ4 or if I could ever find one a summitt Firehawk crate and T-ram,T-56,and wheels/tires)That would be awesome IMO and could be done for under $10G.

WS6, I heard the same thing a while back... I guess about 2 years ago from several reputable people. I know there was a guy here on thirdgen that was selling the stainless steel headers that had soot on them from that same fire for $200 about 18 months ago.... what a steal.
SLP still makes the Firehawks I believe in the fourth gen trim.... not sure what they do to it, but I don't think the fourth gen Hawks are as rare as the third gen, and not just because the thirds are ten years older. I think SLP is just doing more of them now.

Kevin & Ws6 are correct. The tooling was destroyed a couple of years ago. SLP looked at redoing it, but couldn't get the interest necessary to justify the cost of new tooling.
There aren't that many thirdgens because they only made a couple in '91 when they started, and a few more in '92. Last I looked, SLP had a '92 with an all aluminum 383 for sale on their site. No price, though

I bought some of those soot covered SLP headers for $200!
Mine didn't have any soot on them though
I'd kill for a T-Ram set up. Well, not really but I'm always looking...

Guys-
I started this post because I thought the car was great, which I think is unanomous, NOT $hitty. I wonder which would win in a race: the firebird in question, or the 25th anneversary heritage camaro? Bet it would be pretty close, both had ~350hp and 6-speeds, we'll probobly never know for sure, but what a race.

Ughh.. the 25th "anneversay" Camaro wasn't any more special than any other non-anniversary Camaro. I have one.. I should know. And no... they didn't have 350 HP and 6 speeds... lol

Synergy- he is refering to the concept Heritage RS. It had a police package L98 in it with a ZF6 i think. That would give the Firehawk a run for its money

If the car was never produced, how can you speculate who would win? If a 3rd Gen Firehawk, and a 3rd Gen T&R Camaro were against each other I know the Camaro would win!!! LOL. Not trying to start something here. I understand what you are saying. Just a little joke. I don't want this to turn into another SR vs. MR debate.
Dude,of course they made 1 or we would have never heard of it.However,It was never sold to the puplic. The rest never made it in production because of price($28,000) federalizaion, and economy at the time etc.I have 2 road tests on it(Hot Rod,and GMHTP)and I'm sure there were others. The numbers I put up are from GMHTP,but I dont know where they got them from because there was no GMHTP back in 92(maybe Super Chevy?).Later,Hot Rod,dropped an LT1 in it and I'm not sure where it is now.

TTA's are seroiusly fast cars, but you can't have a fair comparison here unless all the cars are stock and in that case I'd doubt it could hang.

The third gen firehawk will now go down as the fastest f-body made now that GM is not going to put the new LS6 motor in the 4th gens, and since the bastards are ditching the f-body line all together

Do not doubt that I am a die hard GM fan, but one can not help but notice the large quantity of bad news coming from GM lately. The death of the F-body, The earlier death of the B-body line back in 97?, and now Oldsmobile is gone! They were going to put the LS6 motor in the F-bodys and send em out with a bang, however they ditched that. They were going to put V-8's in the new impalas, they ditched that too. The Vette will probably be killed soon too. What the hell, soon all they will make is Trucks, SUV's, and econo-cars. Don't worry, I would not buy a mustang if GM stops all performance. But the new BMW M-3/M-5's are starting to look good. That is after I get my engineering degree, and become a rich dummy. Thank god there is still a decent quantity of older cars to tamper with.
