Bolt Size question....
Ok, stupid Q here... I am putting my car back together (finally) and as careful as I thought I was to put all the bolts in one place I still lost at least two.... the one for the front of the fuel rail just behind the connections to the fuel lines, and the one closest to the bottom of the front of the block holding the power steering pump bracket. I can't find those damn bolts anywhere and I'm not too good at just looking at some threads and being able to tell what size they are... can someone help me out?

fuel rail bolt is a long bolt about 2" with a 10mm size head
power steering should be a 9/16" short bolt about 1" long

The one going into the block by your power steering is a 3/8" coarse thread bolt, I think its 1 1/4" long. Thats something you can check easy, just measure how long the hole is in the bracket, and add at least the thickness of the bolt to that to get your size. I think the holes in the block are around 3/4-1" deep.
The one for the fuel rails you are talking about I am pretty sure is 3/8" coarse as well, its only about 3/4" long. I can check later to make sure thats the right size if someone else doesnt know for sure.

Thanks Max, I called the dealer and they had the bolts in stock. They didn't say what size they were, but that they were both the same exact bolt and I went down and got them... they look like 3/8", but then again like I said I'm no good at eyeball measurements.... Thanks a lot to both of you for your responses.

madmax, i thought most of the bolts in the TPI setup were metric? if that's the case shouldn't it be M10 or somewhere in that league?
for the record, Kevin: when i said 9/16" i was referring to head size, the threads would be as madmax said, 3/8.. sorry to confuse you both

From what I've noticed, our cars tend to have metric fasteners everywhere except for the heart of the drivetrain. Engine block, heads, and the fasteners that attach to those seem to have been carried along as standard fasteners for many years after every other part of the car went to that gawdamn communist metrik abortion. As you move away from the block and heads you begin to encounter metric fasteners.

I could guarantee that too because I tried to replace the standard one with a stainless (from my collection) SAE and none would go. It's not 5/16 NC or NF or 3/8 either.

Max is right... it's 3/8".... both of them. The one for the front of the fuel rail and the one for the power steering pump bracket are the same. Thanks for all your help.
