I thought this was pretty normal with old cars, happens on my 86. Just the float moving around i assume, and obvioulsy the less fuel, the more it can move. Correct me if im wrong though...

Yeah, mine does this as well. It's annoying, but I've gotten used to it.

Oh, and by the way, how about next time you post, please don't type in all caps, and use some form of punctuation.

Re: 1989 CAMARO IROC-Z FUEL GAUGE PROBLEMS

it is normal for most cars. it doesn't have to do with baffling. it is the float in the tank moving with the movement of the fuel. you brake-all the fuel rushes forward and allows the float to go down(float is near the back of the tank). when you accelerate- fuel rushes to the back of the tank raising the float. it's pretty typical.

but wouldnt baffeling limit the fuels movement in the tank abit or at least slow it down enough to reduce the movement in the gauge?

Mine does this too, had for a while, always heard it was the sender, well i got a new gauge one day and it still did it but not as bad, it doesnt do it a little when braking it sometimes it will go down to almost the E mark, But, I just had to have a gas tank leak fixed so while the tank was out I had them replace the fuel sending unit, but it still does it : ( Its really annoying, if anyone figure this out please tell me
