One you make yourself. Any off the shelf chip will suck. TPIS doens't have many fans left. Ed Wright is the only guy with a half decent reputation, and you'll still spend more than the cost of a burning set-up for one of his chips.

It depends on the modifications to your car. On a reletively stock car, which is what the hypertech chips were designed for, one can knock off .4 tenths of a second off your quarter mile time. When I put mine in I could actually feel the difference. And it litterly knocked off .4 tenths of a second not to bad but now that I have done some more modifications I think it is time to get a new more agressive chip.
Peace

what exactly does the hypertech chip do?? dosent it just advance timing and put the fans on at lower temp..
if you get a chip you have to go custom burned... these off the shelf ones do nothing.

Definatly go with Ed Write and get a custom Fastchip. They will ask specific mods and numbers which they need to burn your chip. They also will make upgrades to the chip if you add more mods. Since I am not interested in PROM burning myself, I dont mind dropping a few bucks for a pro to handle it. Ive been very satisfied, one of the best mods Ive made so far...

Well that poses a problem for me, see the guy i bought my car from went to jail before i could find out what was done to me car. So i don't have the info to have a chip burned. So what company makes the best chip?
If you have any mods on your car do NOT use hypertech. On a chasis dyno it cost me 7hp compared with stock computer. Only good thing is it kicks on your fan sooner.
But if still interested I can probably find it- will sell!

As Ed Maher said, "Burn it yourself". For a GOOD eprom, it will cost you just as much as the equipment and software to do it yourself.
Plus, no matter HOW GOOD the eprom writer is, they will STILL only use a formula chip (which is better than an "off the shelf" Hypertech, ADS, Jet or whatever).
You really need to tweak the eprom to your specific car to get the MOST out of it. Few of the eprom writers ever invoke Highway Mode and NONE ever disable the stupid Low Octane Routine on SD cars which pulls over 4* of spark advance away and NEVER gives it back (on top of the regular knock retard routine).
From the gas mileage increase I have gotten (I get 30 US MPGs now), the gas savings alone is paying for all my eprom burning equipment PLUS I have far better performance along with a smoother running car. I have taken people for a drive with my stock GM eprom, my old ADS and my own special eprom and they all say that my car runs much better and smoother with my own eprom. When I boot it, they all say they can feel the performance difference. And they are stunned by my gas mileage.
Do it right, do it once, burn your own.

I assumed that the 350 was a swap (though the 5 speed may have been also). As there is no stock memcal for a 350, 5 speed, this is probably why he needs a custom memcal.
