Need sensor locations and identification for 87 TPI swap.

I am about to attempt to install my 87 TPI setup I got onto my 86 LG4. I need to know what sensors and relays I need and where they are supposed to be mounted in the bay.
I'd like to just buy all new sensors and relays if the cost is not too prohibitive, instead of using the old ones from the setup I bought.
Any and all help will be very appreciated.
I will also give thanks to everyone on my website for helping out.

Thanks

I'll try to not forget any, here you go:
<HR>
  • Mass Air Flow (MAF), mounts in intake ducting between air filter and throttle body.
  • Throttle Position Sensor (TPS), mounts on right side of throttle body.
  • Idle Air Control valve (IAC), mounts in small manifold on bottom of throttle body.
  • MAF power relay, in relay center on firewall beside master cylinder.
  • MAF burn off relay, in relay center on firewall beside master cylinder.
  • Manifold Air Temperature sensor (MAT), mounts in bottom of plenum near the back
  • Coolant Temperature Sensor (CTS), mounts on front right of intake manifold base, below IAC valve
  • Cold start switch, front right of intake manifold base, below CTS
  • Exhaust Gas Recirculation valve(EGR), on top of intake manifold base, centered under plenum
  • EGR solenoid, on top of intake manifold, rear, between distributor and valve cover.
  • EGR diagnostic switch, on base of EGR valve.
  • Electronic Spark Control (ESC)knock sensor, bottom right of engine block, in front of starter just above oil pan rail, in the coolant drain boss.
  • ESC module, in relay center on firewall beside master cylinder
  • Electronic Spark Timing (EST) module, on distributor.
  • Oxygen (O2) sensor, in left exhaust manifold.
  • Air Injection Reactor (AIR) convertor divert solenoid and port solenoid, both together at front of right valve cover.
  • Oil pressure switch, on Y fitting with oil pressure gauge sender mounted in the oil pressure boss on the top left rear of the engine block behind intake manifold base. (applies power to fuel pump if fuel pump relay or relay circuit fails).
  • Fuel pump relay, in relay center on firewall beside master cylinder.
  • Fuel vaper canister (charcoal can) solenoid, on top of charcoal can in front left corner of engine bay.
  • Air Conditioner (AC) pressure switch, in boss on AC high pressure side aluminum tube beside right strut tower.
  • vehicle speed sensor, back of speedometer.
  • Cooling fan relay, on core support beside battery.
I think that is all,
That is all I can think of anyway, but if I think of any more I'll post them.

so your going to be running an 1987 TPI intake on a 1986 motor?are you aware that the intake bolt patterns are different?in 1987 GM went with a roller style cam, they also changed the bolt patterns on the intake in that same year.

That took a while madmax. There have been a lot of power failues here today thanks to the lovely monsoon season we've been having here in Borneo, oops I mean West Virginia, so I submited every few minutes so I wouldn't loose it, LOL.
91banditt2 is right the intake manifold base is different. the bolt holes are all in the same place but the center four are at a more vertical angle on the '87s. You can elongate the holes in the intake base, and file a flat spot for the bottom of the bolt head to snug up against to make it work.

Thanks guys,

I do have the heads for the 305 that goes with the TPI. I am thinking about using them instead of the heads that are on my 86 motor.
I have been told that the 87 heads will bolt right up to my block. Just need to know what to look for before I put those heads on the block.

Yes the 87 heads will directly bolt on, no problem. Then you won't have to worry about intake mods to make it fit.
Of course I am assuming those are F body heads. All the corvette heads (aluminum L98) all had the same intake bolt angle as the '86 and earlier F bodies

By the way, Joy certainly is a joy! She has captured my heart (and some other things).

I believe the heads are from a 305 F-body.

Yeah, Joy is a cutie.
I am going to get more pics of her in a couple of weeks. I just need to get this TPI
setup on the car and get it running.
