Code 33, wtf?

My car died on the road the other day and I pulled the trouble codes and got a code 33. I have checked the tps voltage, checked for vacuum leaks, and replaced the maf. But the car still will only start if I hold down the gas and the second I let off it will die. Could the IAC valve or the EGR valve be bad?

i had that problem. set your idle speed higher by turning the screw in the throttle body.

adjusting the idle screw will adjust the tps, true, but will also admit more air, and thus more fuel......

Did you replace the MAF with a used unit, or rebuilt unit? Consider replacing:
MAF Burnoff Relay
Fuel Pump Relay
MAF Power Relay

...about 10/11 bucks each located on the firewall near the brake booster.

Afterwards disconnect battery for about 5 minutes to clear codes and reconnect and check for 33.

What year is your car? 1986 models had a bugged PROM that would trip false code 33's.

alos make sure your connections to the maf and relays are clean, no gunk build up or oxidation on them.

well it looks like the problem was a bad IAC, thanks for the help though.
