Gas Mileage Superam

Hey, I have a few questions concering gas mileage?
1) does headers and a good cat back exhaust give you better gas mileage
2) will adding a super ram give you better mileage
3) super ram + 58 mm Throttle body + intake + runners give you better mileage?
If I understand correctly, if you keep the compression the same, and keep the engine properly tuned. Any mod like aluminum rockers, rollers, etc that just improve the engines effieciency will not only improve the power, but also improve the gas mileage.
What would a 383 stroker with a T56 trans with the super ram, super ram manifold, large runners, 58 mm TB (or would 52 be better for mileage? like a carb) with good heads get?
ANY REPLY IS APPRIECATED!!

I would think that, exhaust, etc will help, but the stroker would be pushing it... but...then again if you talk to grumpy or glenn they can probably show you cars in the 11's getting 25 mpg with a custom eprom. So i guess the answer would more than likely be anything is possible.

Yep, I agree with the above answer. More cubes will require more fuel, all other things being equall. Other than that you can gain power + efficency with the right parts. Your driving style/habbits will make a bigger difference than the parts. More than that the "tune" or "calibration" of the PROM or an aftermarket computer will make the biggest difference.
I remember a few years ago, when Car Craft Magazine was running their annual Real Street Eliminator. There was a red third gen with a Super Ram, and I think a 355 CID engine, but not sure. May have been a 383. Anyway, it ran 11s or 12s in the Ľmile and got 33 MPG in the milage test. That was with a feather footed driver and an Accel DFI computer with a tune for fuel miser duty.

i think that was a 355 engine in the t/a i believe it was blue however but the intaake was a hybrid tunnel ram tpi he also had a special intake setup that ran across the length of the radiator support to each fender.

If you dont do any tuning on it & put some parts on it your milage may suffer or may get a bit better. if you put in a nasty cam, say good buy. if you increase cubes again mileage goes down. if you do both & then tune the car in I would expect that your mileage can get back up to reasonable. heck if you are using the 7730 & you get the highway mode tuned in your mileage could be awesome. just dont stick in that race only cam & think that it is going to be happy. pick your parts right & all will be good.

Because the Superram retains the EGR, it SHOULD theoretically be able to attain the same fuel economy as TPI on a steady state cruise on the highway. The EGR is a key component in getting good gas mileage and invoking Highway Mode really needs the effects of the EGR to maximize the settings for Highway Mode.

Now, when you put your foot into it, that is a different story. HP requires Air and Fuel. If your mixture is right and you are inhaling more air, you will need more fuel: which is why you are installing the Superram, to get more HP.
