Throttle Body Differences

The accelerator cable thingie on my '88 TPI throttle body is hanging up a little. When I let off the gas, it doesn't settle down all the way at idle unless I tap the gas real quick. I've traced the problem to the throttle body. Is there any difference between this one and the one I have with my spare TPI setup from an '86 305 Camaro?

IIRC there is a difference between those. In 88 they changed the throttle body in the TPI. So the 86 would not fit in the 88 but if someone that knows better than I hopefully they will correct me.

85-88 use the same throttle body, so yes your 86 TB is the same as your 88 TB. 89-92 is the other style of TB.

Steve, if you hook your foot under the gas pedal and pull it towards you, does it go back down to the right idle? You may just need to lubricate the accelerator cable. I just used a bit of motor oil and it seemed to help.

No, if I hook my foot under the pedal, it doesn't do it. But I should probably do that anyway. How do I go about lubricating the cable?

I had this problem (ONCE) I forgot to put the plastic cover up properly under the dash, there is a slot where the accelerator pedal is. I caught on the end of the plastic and it would not release. I re-adjusted the plastic cover and all is well now.
