Curious to know of the thoughts from others

I've done alot of research and have gotten lots of opionsas well over the years from owning now two third gens camaro's. Reading alot on the TPI engines and knowing its down fall and its ups with the induction system that it does have. I even had the thought of sellin it to get a newer car but when I down right thought about it, i honestly can't see myself owning anything else because im literly stuck in the 80's muscle lol.

I have spoken with Hawks parts and they have great parts and with the free mods listed in this site I'm really thankful of being a member in this website. now that I have ranted a little and praised a little, I wanted to share a couple of ideas I had for my camaro. Please be honest and open minded but do keep in mind this car is not a drag car.

Engine:

Scoggin Dickey 360TPI crate (with of course everything it says it had for the dyno cept the headers)

Hawks Stainless Steel Headers with y-pipe (non AIR)
Smog delete
March 2pcs Pulley
Hawks ram air airbox
Have Hawks Dyno tune it

Drivetrain:

T56 swap from hawks
Spec stage 2 clutch package
3.55 (or close) rear gears (Aussie 9 bolt rear)

Suspenion:

Eibach Springs
KYB shocks and struts
BMR tubuler a-arms oem replacment
bmr LCA and panard package
BMR bolt on subframe connectors
Spohn Strut tower brace
Spohn Sway bars
Spohn crossmemer and torque arm with front and rear safty loops

Brakes:

(J65 is the RPO option already)
Slotted rotors front and back
Hawks HPS brake pads
Earl's stainless braided brake lines

Exhaust

Stainless exhaust from Hawks

I'm hoping that I get at least 305hp at the wheels with 345ft/lbs of tor. With even the free mods such as smog pump delete and bypass the TB water jacket and no AIR Hawks will have to make a prom with the egr smog and AIR gone ( unless its not need to take off on the prom) now because I am in the army its gonna take me a while to finish this project because of the lack of funds we get paid and the short time i get to be back at the states because of deployments. but i will finish this project. This summer I plan on takin it to Hawks in May for the Trans swap and full exhaust, next will be the full suspenion and brakes and then the crate and engine mods. the body and interior will be last so it will be a sleeper for a while. This is all going into a 1989 Chevy Camaro IROC-Z with the 350 TPI 700r 9 bolt 2.77 rear t-top dark red with tan interior. i love this car and i have yet to see another 89 with this combo seen an 88 but it had red interior. i do not have the g92 1le n10 or leather seats but thats ok. Anyway, thanks for your time. and for all you other third gen nuts keep buildin man ive seen alot of clean rides on here and have seen this website many times on major magazines from the cars on the main pages. Re: Curious to know of the thoughts from others

3.55 ratio isn't available for the 9 bolts. The T56 trannys work best with a gear ratio of 3.70 or numerically higher. You're in luck since 3.70 is the only aftermarket ring and pinion set that's readily available for the 9 bolt rears. You'll also need to pick up a used, 3 series 9 bolt carrier somewhere (either here in the classifieds or ebay). 3.27 and numerically higher 9 bolts all use the 3 series carrier. 3.27 or 3.45 ratio would work decent with a 93 T56 since it has a 2.97:1 first gear. 94-up T56's use a 2.66:1 first gear, which is better suited to 3.70 or numerically higher rear gears. Also, if you really want more stopping power, I'd recommend upgrading to the factory 1LE brakes up front, or the C4 or C5 vette brake conversion. I replaced the puny 10.5" stock front brakes on my 89 with the 1LE's, and it was a vast improvement. Spohn has an affordable 1LE conversion, or board member EB Miller can hook you up with one of the C4/C5 converesions. You might want to consider shopping around some before committing to purchasing a T56 swap from Hawks. Their prices are INSANE. You can get a good, used T56 from a 93-97, LT1 powered f-body for $1200-$1500 pretty easily. You'd still need the conversion crossmember, and some other various parts to complete the swap, but you'd still come out leagues cheaper than getting it all from Hawks. The last time I checked, they wanted like $1200 for a used, anemic T5 swap, which you can buy on here all day long for about $400-$500! I don't even want to know what they charge for the T56 swap. On your exhaust, you'd be money ahead by getting a set of coated Hooker 2055's or Dyno Don's (he's a member here) 1-3/4" headers. Being a thirdgen owner himself, he put a lot of time and research into building his headers, and as a result, they're probably far superior to the Hawks headers, and cheaper to boot. Send him a PM for prices. All in all it looks like you've got a pretty good plan laid out for your ride. Just figured I'd point out a couple of choices that'll save you some dough without sacrificing any quality!
