New TPI running rich

Hey guys, I swapped my 87 Trans Am FROM a carb TO TPI, and it's running rich as hell. I'm wondering if I have 22# injectors instead of 19# (motor is a 305). Is there any way to tell? I'm fouling plugs left and right here and dont know what else to do. I've changed plugs, wires, cap, rotor, everything is firing, I have good spark everywhere. Any ideas guys? Thanks

Brian

What about your O2 sensor? Also check your CTS, I had a bad one and it caused me to continually foul plugs. So many settings in the computer are controlled by the CTS, you'd be amazed.
What chip are you running for the TPI?
I'm not sure how to tell the difference between 19 and 22lbers. I think one size is gray, one is black. Not sure which though.

Post the part number on the side of the injuctor. It's small and the same color as the plastic so look close and hard. We'll tell you what size injector it is.

Rob P,
I have both an 87 & 89 Injectors, I know the one set that I have on my car a are the stock 19# ones, I snagged a TPI unit off a guy for 75 Bucks last year from an 89 with a 305.

The 87 Injectors are black, and the 89 Injectors are gray, Color might depend on Manufacturer.

Just a thought.

Thanks for the help so far guys. As far as I know, these are the stock injectors that came off the TPI unit. The unit itself came from an 86 IROC. The part # on the side is 5235047. If these are the right injectors, any other ideas why it is running so rich? Fuel pressure is set at about 44psi at idle. Thanks guys

That part number 5235047 came off a 305 TPI, they are 19lb injectors.

did you reuse the coolant temp sensors?there are two of them at the front of the intake(base)one large one and one smaller one.the larger one is wired directly to the ECM(computer)and it tells the ECM what the coolant temp is,so the ECM can adjust the fuel and timing accordingly.also did you put a 160 t-stat in with a stock computer chip?that'll cause it to run rich.
my two cents
