K&N Breather Filter...
K&N Breather Filter...
I was think of installing one of those small K&N breather filters on my car (one of the ones that goes on the valve cover). Hasn't anyone else done this? And if so, did you just do the side without the PCV valve? Or both? Just wanted to know the pros and cons of this on a TPI engine.

I was only thinking about it, just to keep the inside of the plenum a little cleaner. You say it's messy, in what way?

And IMO, it won't help to keep the plenum any cleaner either, as gases drawn in through the PCV will still enter through the EGR holes, and PCV represents the majority of the oil in the plenum. The breather side that is hooked to the TB will only get a very small amount of vapor under heavy load/WOT conditions. Since you shouldn't be under those conditions very often, and since the volume of oil vapor is small, i'd say it is negligible and you'll just end up with a mess on your VCs.

If you use the stock valve covers, or different ones that have baffles, you should not have a problem with making a mess on your valve covers. The baffles in the valve cover do wonders for keeping oil in liquid form from getting into the breather and subsequently, onto the valve cover. Gotta remember that the breather is only designed to filter out oil particles, not oil in liquid form.
