Camaro,
Some one correct me if I'm wrong, the coolant passage to your throttle body was routed there for those very cold locations. Most of us aren't running our car mid-winter in Alaska so you wont have any adverse reactions from doing so.

well i was reading in my haynes manual and it says that there is a coolant temp sender in the tb that helps control the air fuel mixture while the car is warming up... ive never heard of this either. is it true?

I believe you are talking about the pre '87 intakes with the 9nth injector the temp switch was mounted in the front of the lower intake though on the two that I have seen, and one that I own.
There is only 2 "Sensors" one being the idle air control valve (which doesnt really sense anything) and the Throttle position sensor.
The Intake air sensor is in the bottom of the plenum on some and in the air cleaner on others. The one in the plenum would "sense" cooler air and the computer would react accordingly. From my experience and alot of others as well..There isnt much power to be gained from it. Maybe 2 or 3HP
