Hey guys, why is it that my tach goes up to 8000 while the redline is 6000?

Dont know. Maybe they figured some people might mod the car and want a tach that read higher than 6000.

 

Hey guys, why is it that my speedometer goes up to 145 MPH while the speedlimit is 75?

 

where is the speed limit 75? its only 70 here in tx, and there are trying to lower it again.

Probably the same reason your speedometer has numbers the needle will never point to. It looks cool in the showroom!

I've only done 80MPH through Warr Arches like 3 times. (raced a few mustangs @ 40+MPH over the speed limit & they would Krispy Kream in their pants if they caught me)I was talking about the Interstate -everyone is going 5+MPH over.

The posted speed limit in Maine is 75 on most remote highways, even on I-95!

 

just made a round trip to kentucky and back to nj.virginia rt 81 not 1 trooper in sight 115mph made up a lot of time i lost going through tenn. pita troopers

 

75 mph? 80 mph sped limit? you guys are lucky. here in nyc all the highways are 55mph. some upstate ny have 65 though.

 

i dunno about you guys, but my cars speedo has pointed out every number on my speedo and then some

 

GA really needs to raise the speed limit here. Sure 70 is nice, but most of the highways here are just open expanses of road with nothing nearby. Especially I-16. Nothing, and I mean nothing for 180 miles. People need to start understanding that speed doesn't kill. Idiots that cannot drive at speed kill. Like soccer moms with F*#d Expeditions.

wanna see nothing forever, go to Tex-line, Texas. About five minutes from new Mexico. Then head east on I-20. YOu won't see anything till Midland. Hell you son't see anything till Weatherford or even Hulen Street in Ft. Worth

Are you SURE about the 6,000 rpm redline? L98s got a tach with a "yellow line" at 5,000 rpm and a redline at 5,500 rpm. Sounds like you got a V6 Tach or someone has swapped the engine.

 

ya, i mad a mistake, it does redline at 5500, i looked at it the other day and noticed it.

Well it's probably because the stock tach is so d@mn inaccurate. After reading some info that seemed to say a 305 could go to around 6K, I compared the tach reading to the auto x ray reading and around redline there was about 500 rpms difference. Below 3K there was almost no difference. This really doesn't make sense to me, since it would seem like the ecm and tach have the same info coming from the same wire, but go figure. I guess this is why hardcore folks get a mechanical tach...

 

hey white iroc i saw you at Thunder Valley about 2 months ago. i had the 87 iroc with headers. chris' 91 is black. with the wing on the back not the spoiler.

I'm always jealous about your MPH as in CANADA it is KMH and well to say the least it doesn't sound cool to say I went 160 KMH cause it's only 100 MPH!!!! so I think I will go MPH like the rest of you ..... I could always argue that 110 was posted .... didn't have time to read if it was KMH or MPH
