Stock L98 Heads on a '92 B4C Camaro?

Are the stock 64cc heads on a '92 L98 good for say, up to 350HP for a street engine. My friend is rebuilding the engine in his '92 B4C Camaro and was wanting to hop it up a little bit, but not too extreme. He was thinking about a Comp Cams 304 Cam, 210/220, .500/.510 on a 114 LSA. Would it be worth it to port the stock heads or invest in some other heads, again not looking to spend a lot of $$. Just looking for about 300 RWHP.

You can't use L98 heads on a 305. The chambers are larger and the valves will hit the sides of the block.

The stock heads aren't that bad, if your friend is sticking with the stock intake then putting a few dollars into cleanup work and a nice valve job should help nicely.
If he's planning on getting more serious then he'd be better off just getting some aftermarket heads rather than sinking money into extensive porting on the stockers.

The heads will be going on a 350. It is actually my car that b4c1le is talking about. Which aftermarket heads will work well with the aforementioned cam or the ZZ-9 cam. I plan on running the TPiS big mouth intake. Any help or idea's are greatly appreciated.

Yeah but aren't the L98 aluminum vette heads 58cc combustion chambers? I guess you could use a different piston and/or head gasket to keep the compression ratio reasonable?

Well AFR's are the best flowing but I have Edelbrock 6085 AL heads with the ZZ9 cam and am pretty happy with them. I'm fixing problems like vacuum leaks and bad sensors after the rebuilt, which seems to happen.
But I still have the stock intake and the engine pulls real hard from 2800 rpms to 5500 rpms! I figure with the aftermarket intake, base and runners, I'll be hitting mid 13.4 to 13.5 traps, maybe a little better.
But remember that is with 2.77 gears!

My times now are in the signature but I could have gotten a tenth lower if I wanted to tune it alittle more.

I am glad you said 2.77 gears. I would be really disappointed in spending a lot of money to go only mid 13's. My stock 91' 1LE ran 13.90's and most of my B4C's run 14.09 to 14.35 @ 96-100mph. I would like at least low 13's if not high 12's and still be emissions legal here in AZ.
