sure install a 350 add heads add camshaft.....
as for a 305 making those numbers it will cost boocooh bux......
about 400 is all you will ever get out of a semi streetable 305 thats revving the **** of out of it. Go with 45 more cubic inches and it will be much more docile for sure + cheaper rebuild kits and more head availability.

If you go that route, you'd probably better consider an after market transmission.Originally Posted by 92_Z28

I'd massage the heads, re-cam, and make up the deficit with a 100-shot.
I'm serious. 300 hp for driving around with a torquey powercurve in a relatively light 3rd Gen, with the right gearing can be a potent street performer. And then crack the bottle open for the track.

Super Chevy Mag. did a smog legal 305 sbc that made 470 tq @ 3800 rpm and 431 hp @ 5400 rpm. the tq was 424 @ only 2600 rpm. That is pretty darm good. I f you want the web site you'll have to email me so I can sent you the site. If you just got the car go over it and make sure it is all tuned up and has no issues then built from there.

I would rather build a 307 then a 305 any day . And it will make more power . But the 350 build is the better street engine of all three !Originally Posted by 89RS_82Z
