Just bought Accel 24# injectors
Am I absolutely going to need a chip? I have an 89 350, with minimal mods. Most of the free stuff on the site, K&N, and SLP catback. If I need a new chip, is there somewhere that I can get one premade, or do I have to find someone to make a custom one?
Well since no one else has helped you yet. I am no expert, but I think it depends. Do you have a MAF or speed density? I think you can install them if you have the less sensitive MAF sensor. I have some of these just waiting to be installed, but I have speed density, so I need some more air flow and a chip. Otherwise it will run way too rich.

That shoud be fine man, I just installed a set of those on my car about 3 weeks ago. I turned the F/P down though, but it is running lean and I plan on bumping it back up when I get a chance. I really like these injectors! I was running my original 19lbs.'ers on my 355 with pretty high F/P and they were locking up here and there. Runs great now!
I dont think your going to need a chip for 24lb injectors. I also installed them on my 350 with no mods. Mine is speed density. Im getting 24mpg. Doesn't burn rich at all. I wouldn't worry about a chip until you find out how good the car runs.

You will need a chip to get it to run properly. The truth be known that ALL TPIS or any port fuel injection system will runn better with smaller injectors and higher fuel pressure, but if you get a chip it will be calibrated for the 24#ers and you will be able to get more fuel as you get more mods. I had a 355 with 305 heads running 13.9's consistantly on a 2.77 posi rear, so I know what I am talking about here. You need to gewt a hold of Glen91GTA. He is an ace at programming chips he can give you the gory details on how it will all work.

I've been running mine for better than a month without a problem. You can see my mods. At first I turned the fuel pressure down but that was a mistake, so I turned it back to 43 psi. Runs much better, I'm getting about 21 mpg, and most of my driving is around town and country roads in central Florida (very curvy) and I'm not nursing it for gas mileage if you know what I mean.

Kyle he wont need a chip his isn't built like yours. A 350 with 24lb injectors will work fine with a stock chip. I know I'm running mine that way on my 355 for the last two years. I've got over 30,000 miles on it now. It runs just fine.

I disagree kyle.raising fuel pressure is more to fine tune athe combination. If used up too high injector pulse gets very high along with block learn, and integrator.causing the whole package to not be properly tuned. You can get away with the 24#'sbut I believe you will have to turn down the f.p.You can learn to burn your own chips for under $250.00.(go to diy site for more info.well worth it.

I just installed Accel 24s in my C-4. If you haven't installed them yet, you may want to bend up your O-rings and check to see that there isn't any excess plastic from where the two molds came together that made the injector. One of mine was leaking, so I pulled the fuel rail and that injector out. There was a tiny bit of plastic "flash" under the O-ring which made it leak. I scraped it off with my fingernail, put the O-ring back on and it's been fine.
Later,
Carl
