inside air boxes reply quick please need help

ok underneath the air filters there are 4 semicircular things held in with 2 bolts each on them they say replace with ac filters would it hurt to take them out and could i get a horse power gain reply soon incase its hurtin my car

take them out thats what I did, they are rain guards or something like that. It will give you some more air flow.

An even better thing to do is take them out and then cut the rest of the plastic out of the bottom of the air box. That will really increase airflow. That is what I did, then I added a homemade cold air system. Seems to work really well and I've never had any problems.

I did the same thing with my 2.8L Camaro. The whole homemade Ram-Air bit with the cut airboxes and ducting. I like the setup cause I'm getting nice cool air forced up into the air filters, but now that I'm selling the car I'm wondering whether or not I'm going to pass SMOG check or not. I'm kinda worried cause if I can't pass, it costs like $400 to get a new airbox assembly, unless I can find a junkyard to get me a deal.
