Anyone ever done something this bad?

i believe he's ordering the s/r torquer 305s from World. my question is, how well will this work with the summit cam I have in the car w/ .442" lift. I know the springs handle .560" on the s/r, but won't that be too much spring? Also, i read where the s/r 305s don't flow too great on exhaust? is this gonna kill my purpose for spending 600 on SLP headers? Anyone any ideas on what HP to expect?

hey bud, i have those heads, they need porting. they have bigger valve sizes but the ports are near stock. do yourself a favor and have them ported and port matched. i run them with the slp cam 498 lift and have had no problems yet. car runs a decent high 13. but if you really want to go fast, scrap the 305 and biuld a 350. i learned the hard way.

Supercharged 334 strokers (basically a 305) are a ton better than supercharged 350's!

importsrsloths : for the cost of machine work to build a 334 why not build a 383 now tell me that a supercharged 334 will outrun a supercharged 383 ...haha

and btw what does that have to do with this post anyway??

forgot the rest of the story...

I tried doing headers... SLP 1 5/8" on my 86 LB9 last weekend. A bolt on the driver side broke off in the head. tried drilling, got an easy-out on it, wouldn't budge. I let my dad work on it since he usually seems to be able to tackle anything... few hours later, "oh f*ck" he says. I walk over to the car, coolant is leaking out of the head. So, we have a problem. He said it's his mistake, he'll make it right.

I wouldn't worry about the springs. It's better to have too much spring than too little. Just be sure to follow the break in procedure and put plenty of the black moly stuff on the cam lobes and lifters. And put assembly lube or motor oil on the bearings.
