air ducting in firebird

My TPI swap into my '84 T/A is done, but I don't know how I'm going to get cold air to the engine. I have no clue what the stock TPI firebirds had for ducting, I'm sure somebody here can help me out with that. Just a description would be great.

I had thoughts of using the stock cowl that came on my car, but I'll need to make some kind of air box to get it to the front of the engine compartment. I'd much rather get cold air from the front of the car.

This isn't how they had them, but I always thought this would be cool. Take the blockoffs on the front of your bumpercover off, and replace them with the vented style that 82-83 TA's had. Then run some ducting down there for some nice, fresh, cold air.

But stock TPI ta's had a duct that went straight forward, then curved to the passenger's side, and went down behind the headlight. If you look closely at the picture on my reader's ride

you can somewhat get an idea of what i am talking about.

Hope that helps
Jon

Thanks for the pics. Surprisingly enough, in my search through junk yards today for a hydraulic clutch hose, I came across the exact setup you have there. Cost me 20 bucks for all of it =). Just gonna have to relocate my battery, prolly put it where the jack was. Uhm... one question about that if you don't mind. Does the air box just suck air from behind the headlight?

Oh, and about the vents in the front, I have been looking for a set. I may just put them in to get more air through the rad as my car runs hot. but yeah, in the future if I get creative it would be awesome to create a ram air from the pass. side vent.
