Royal Purple?
Using Royal Purple 10W30 Syn. oil in my Formulas Gen 1 350?
It is a 80,000km motor, sat for a while, ran 10w30 conven. in it, and not a leak or drip from it...
Id like to flush this oil out as its first oil thats been thru motor, so Id like to drain it before spring and fill it with RP.
Any things I should worry bout?

Re: Royal Purple?
if the car sat that long id dump that oil. put in another 5qt's of the conventional stuff. run the car for a while. and drain while hot. then pour in youre fresh rp. after my car sat for years. i did about 4 oil changes. before puting in synthetic. get the crap and gook out of there.

Re: Royal Purple?
I always seem to have massive leaks and oil problems when I run synthetic oil in an older, high mileage engine. If the engine is freshly rebuilt or less than 20k miles then I use Mobil 1. I'm just not too sure you'll get good results running super thin oil in an engine with wide tolerances from mileage. Now, if you run synthetic from the beginning, you'll be fine at higher mileage...

I will have to check Wal-Mart out. The last time I was in they only had Mobile One and maybe another brand for synthetics.

Re: Royal Purple?
You can actually mix royal purple with conventional oil if you had to, so do not worry about getting it all out even if there is build in your motor, that royal purple will flush everything out after about 1000 miles of hard driving.

Re: Royal Purple?
If you have a small leak. It will be bigger with syn oil. The seals absorb something from the con oil, the syn takes it out, and the seals then leak.
10w-30 is 10w-30
con oil is blended 5w plus 15w = 10w (just for example). natural oil molecules are slightly different lengths. syn oil all exactly the same. some is rated 0w-50 (casterol) cold flows like 0w, hot like 50w.
