Mallory spark box

I am planning on putting a spark box on my Camaro sometime this summer trying to give it more "nuts". I am on a strict budget and I am seeing the Mallory Hyfire 6 box for about $130. The MSD 6 spark box is around $200 in Jegs. I've seen on TGO that MSD and Mallory are like six in one hand and half dozen in the other. Is this popular opinion or would I know where my extra $70 or so went when I put in the MSD? Or since I don't have much cash to blow on my car would I be better off with the Mallory? I have no brand loyalty when it comes to ignition so I don't care which. Also I helped a friend install an MSD 6A box on his trans tunnel in the cabin on a '90 Vette and it did fine. Is that a good place to install my box or should it be in the engine bay somewhere? My car is a basically stock '86 LB9 and I just plan to hop it up and have fun with it until it cries uncle and don't care too much about longevity. This car is not my daily driver. BTW my only other ignition upgrade is Hypertech coil. Plugs and wires are typical parts store junk...will be upgrading to Mallory Sidewinder or MSD Superconductor wires at the same time. Don't know what plugs are good since I heard Accel U grooves aren't that great and that's what I have. I need advice and appreciate any help.
