LPE Cam Choice

I know that the 219 cam is designed for the super ram and the 211/219 is for a large tube setup.
I want to put some new heads and a cam in and wondered if the 219 cam would be alright to run with the LTR.
Possibly down the road I may switch to the SR but for now I need to stay with the LTR setup.
Any disadvantages for doing this?

Bob

Get the 219, it will work with long tubes also.

The 219 is a bad cam choice for a LTR setup. First, its a single pattern cam which will reguire your new heads to have a miraculous exhaust port. Second, 219º of intake duration is too much duration for an LTR setup. Even with a HOT cam which as the split duration and LESS intake duration the setup peaks at 4500rpms ....

The 219 cam peaks higher than the hot cam and a fully upgraded LTR setup cannot even support what the hot cam wants. How do I know? Drop a MiniRam on the SAME setup used in the above and POW look at the horsepower take off ....

Overlay these graphs and you can see the difference ...

All data courtesy of Mike Davis. Motor is a ZZ4 with LT4 HOT cam. Look at his website and you will see that the addition of the AFR heads did not change the shape of the large tube runner curve ... its related only to the intake.

Gunning for NA 11's with bigger cam, bigger stall, and bigger exhaust.

Tim, I've seen your site and love your setup.
Would you say I could run mid 12's with the LTR setup (I currently have an Accel base and AS&M LTR) with different heads and cam?
What cam would you recommend?
Thanks,

Bob
